Dear Elida and the many sisters of That Purple Place,
I wish to thank you for not only inviting me to be your guest speaker at your wonderful gathering but also for the astonishing collection of gifts assembled together in the magnificent basket.
I imagined the woman or women who painstakingly selected the individual items and artistically arranged them in the basket.
What a wonderful selection and all items were to my taste. You could have surmised that I had personally chosen the gifts. The chocolates of course went first. The candle sticks and candles sit astride the top of my shelves in the lounge. The table mats are so delicate and the exquisite coat hangers, made by women’s hands skilled in creating a beautiful object from what was originally, a piece of wood or plastic. All wondrous.
The cake, the Broach and all the sweets well selected.
You may wonder at my response to your largesse but after normally receiving a bouquet
when addressing an audience, I was stunned when unraveling the basket.
I have great admiration for your efforts in assisting the women in your area and
your initiative in raising funds through your well conducted op-
